16 Mar Talking Out of Turn
After surviving Snowmageddon here in Dallas a couple of weeks ago, I was more than ready to escape my home. In case you missed the news, we experienced several days of below freezing temperatures, unusual snow fall (I’ve lived in Texas my whole life and I’ve never seen the amount of snow we experienced, EVER), and statewide rolling blackouts and power outages. Thousands of my fellow Texans dealt with busted pipes, flooded homes, and more. Fortunately for me, the most I had to deal with was frozen pipes for a couple of days and higher than usual utility bills.
So, needless to say that once the temperatures rose to our balmy normals I was happy to venture out in search of something to lift my spirits, and Talking Out of Turn was just the place. I can’t remember exactly when I first heard about TOOT. It may have been when I started researching stationery stores to visit here in Dallas, back in the fall of 2019 or through searching on Instagram. Either way, I discovered they had a storefront that was opening soon here in Dallas, and in an area very close to me called The Bishop Arts District. Unfortunately, the rise of COVID had caused a delay and they hadn’t opened just yet.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I was finally able to go check it out. The first thing that caught my attention once I entered was all the pink and then there was this wall of prints and pens. Swoon!
Is that not the prettiest setup you’ve seen in a while! I of course tried and snagged a handful of these pretties before I finally moved on to the rest of the store.
I love the openness and natural light the store has. So often when I go in stationery stores they are small and only have a few options outside of pens and cards, but as you can see this store is guilty of neither. They have a nice selection of products including stationery and prints and the mugs!!! Oh, the mugs (see below)! I also like the posters, my favorite is this Oak Cliff one because that’s the neighborhood in Dallas where I grew up. 🙂
I have never taken this many photos at a store before, there were just so many pretty things. Take a look at the gallery of mugs (click to enlarge them). I bought four including the pink one with gridlines, “not today”, “chaos coordinator” and “reading is fundamental” (not pictured).
And here are a few more photos from my trip. If you’re in the area, I’d highly recommend you stop by and visit. They let me know they update their stock every week and I can vouch for that because I stopped by a couple of weekends ago, and they had brand new items in stock!
I must say that of all the local stores I’ve visited, this one by far had the widest selection and was the most economical. I will definitely be back on a regular basis!
