26 Dec 2022 Barnes & Noble Hardback Book Sale
Today is one of my favorite days of the year, it’s the annual 50% sale at Barnes & Noble! So in case you didn’t know, I’m a bonafide bibliophile. I love, love, love to read. From news and astronomy to self help and non-fiction, I’m a fan. I don’t even know how many books I own, just that it’s in the hundreds and I don’t have enough room for them all anymore. And that doesn’t include what’s on my Kindle and iBooks app!
As long as I can remember books have been an integral part of my life and learning, and there are few things I love to share more than a great read (and office supplies, of course). So the annual 50% sale at Barnes & Nobles is one of those times of year I’m able to grab a stockpile of bookst and for a fraction of the cost, a no doubt win-win. During this two-day sale (sometimes they even extend it) you can grab any hardback book, calendars, games, vinyl, and even journals. I woke up early this morning and literally ran across the street (lucky me!) and grabbed a load of books before the post-Christmas crowds beat me to it.
I think I went a bit crazier than last year, but I had a couple of gift cards and purchased a couple of books as gifts, including a really expensive Prince coffee table book (can’t wait to give it)! Overall my haul was pretty self help focused (I’m definitely increasingly focused on being my best self), and I sprinkled in some non-fiction too. Ryan Holiday and discipline have both been on my “explore more” list for a while. 2022 definitely presented plenty of “I didn’t see that coming moments” so that title definitely intrigued me. I’d ordered “lighter” from Amazon last night because it was on sale for 35%, but I was able to grab what I believe was the last one in store today and for 50% off, so I scooped it up.
I’d previously spotted “When We Were Sisters”, “the Night Shift”, “A Coastline Is An Immeasurable Thing”, and “Someday, Maybe” on previous visits and had them on my wishlist. Cormac McCarthy is a legend and his latest book has been highly anticipated and reviewed, and the premise definitely intrigued me. I follow Eric Thomas on social media and love his energy and story. Brene Brown is Brene Brown…I mean….no explanation needed there.
My goal for 2023 is to get back to reading on a daily basis. I typically read in starts and spurts and multiple books at once, which ends up taking me forever. Next year I want to trade more screen time for book time. Last night I got off to a good start by finishing “In Every Mirror She’s Black” by Lola Akinmade Akerstrom. I’d started that one a few months ago and finally had time to finish it this week. It was a slow burn, but really interesting to read about the black female experience from an international lens (I love international reads as well).
So, if you have time and a few dollars to spare I’d highly recommend you drop by the sale. It’s only in-person and I can almost guarantee you’ll find something that’ll intrigue you.
