Pouring Out My Gratitude and Prayers

Prayer and Gratitude Jars

On the left is my gratitude jar. I try each work day to list two things I’m grateful for. On the right is my prayer jar. Each work day I also try to remember to write a prayer for someone else and one for myself. As I got into work today I poured both jars out since it’s a new year and a new start (and I forgot to do so yesterday after being on vacation a couple of weeks). As I looked at a few of the things I was grateful for in 2015 (work, doctors, good breakfasts, laughter, the Holy Spirit) I was reminded just how many things in life are good, in spite of how bad things feel and even look in the moment or season.

This was even more apparent as I looked at some of the prayers I prayed (for financial blessings, salvation for unbelievers, my coworkers, my family, those who lost loved ones) for myself and others. If you are reading this I want you to know that I prayed for you in 2015 and I’ll do the same in 2016. If you’re a fan of my blog or just discovering me, I want you to know that I’m grateful for you and I appreciate your support. And I encourage you to create your own prayer and/or gratitude jars. It’s a great way to remember others, count your blessings, and look back on all that God has done and  helped you accomplish. If you’re interested, here are a few links to help get you started. And by the way, Happy New Year!
